Advancing current research and knowledge is critical to developing effective HIV prevention policies and programs in the infrastructure sector. To ensure relevant and quality programs, it is critical to incorporate research and data gathering at all stages of an intervention, from the initial situational analysis, through monitoring ongoing programs, to post-program evaluation. In July 2009, ADB and IOM jointly produced a literature review that examines and summarizes project reports, articles, evaluations and studies on HIV-prevention activities conducted at infrastructure projects in the GMS. The findings of this review suggest that there is a critical need for evidence-based, effective models for HIV interventions at infrastructure projects.
